Fresh Picks

The current use of mesh bags for transporting avocados in local grocery stores reveals significant inefficiencies in stacking and spacing. Avocados are often haphazardly placed within the bags, leading to an unbalanced arrangement. This lack of order results in bags being stacked on top of one another without proper alignment, increasing the risk of damage to the avocados. Overfilling the trays further exacerbates the problem, with avocados appearing as if they are about to fall out. Additionally, there is a concerning lack of awareness about the social sustainability issues within the industry, such as labour exploitation, criminal involvement, and environmental degradation.

Introducing FreshPicks, our packaging solution designed to replace traditional mesh bags for avocados. Crafted from 100% paperboard, this unique pentagonal-shaped packaging is both balanced and stackable, maximizing space efficiency. The design includes perforations for easy access to the avocados, enhancing accessibility. Each package features a handle for convenient carrying and secure hold tabs to keep the avocados in place. Additionally, it includes a protective cover for added security during transport and storage. Inside, you’ll find clear instructions on how to check the avocado’s stem for ripeness, helping to minimize the risk of bruising.
